CCCWVCA announces State Players of Week #1
The California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association (CCCWVCA) has selected Taft College's Natalie Castillo, Pasadena City's Shaylee Ungos, and American River's Morgan Castaneda as the State Players of the Week #1.
Castillo, a 6-foot, freshman middle blocker from Frontier High in Bakersfield, helped Taft to a 4-0 start to the season as she totaled 36 attack kills, 12 block kills, and served 10 aces in four matches. She hit .492 and scored 53.5 points.
Ungos, a 5-8, sophomore setter/opposite from Osan, South Korea, was solid in two Pasadena sweeps over Cypress and Grossmont as she delivered 14 kills, hit .355, dished out 20 assists, made 11 digs, five blocks and four aces.
Castaneda, a 5-10 sophomore outside hitter from Redwood High in Visalia, helped American River to sweeps over Feather River and De Anza in pounding 24 kills with 24 digs, five blocks and four aces. She hit better than .300 overall in the two matches.
