Delta Classic MVP part of State Players of the Week #3
Feather River College's Chloe Albiez, the MVP of the Delta Classic, San Joaquin Delta's Emily Vickers and San Diego Mesa's Halen Kiefer are the CCCWVCA State Players of the Week #3.
Albiez, a 6-foot freshman outside hitter from Trinity High in Weaverville, led the Golden Eagles to the Delta Classic championship over the weekend. She scored in double digits in kills in four victories over Mendocino, West Valley, Fresno City and host Delta in the championship final.
Albiez totaled 50 kills, 43 digs, and nine blocks in the tourney. In the 4-set Fresno win, she recorded 16 kills and 14 digs.
Vickers, a 5-8 sophomore outside hitter from Escalon High, helped Delta to a 9-match win streak to open the season. An All-Delta Classic tourney selection, she pounded 55 kills, served 11 aces, and had 38 digs as the Mustangs went 3-1. She scored 19 kills in a 4-set win over American River.
Kiefer, a 5-9 sophomore outside hitter from El Dorado High in Placentia, transferred to Mesa after playing as a freshman at San Jose State University. She has helped the state #1-ranked Olympians to a 6-0 start to the season. Last week, Kiefer landed 30 kills and added 19 digs in wins over Santa Monica and Canyons.
