Edgmond Named Saddleback Women’s Basketball Coach
Laguna Niguel, Calif. - Saddleback athletics is excited to announce the hiring of Jason Edgmond as the new women's basketball coach. Edgmond is the 14th head coach in program history.
Edgmond served as an assistant coach this past season, helping guide the Bobcats to the regional finals for the first time in 23 years. He takes over for former head coach Jordan Hamamoto, who has taken over the men's program at the school.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to be the head coach at Saddleback College," Edgmond said. "I look forward to uniting our team and building a program defined by toughness, discipline and academic excellence. I can't wait to get to work and represent the Bobcats with pride."
Previous to Saddleback, Edgmond had a 10-year career at the high school and club level.
Edgmond started his coaching career at Foothill Technology High School where he started the program and developed the program from its inception. In his first five years, Edgmond won 97 games in leading the team to the CIF Elite 8 (2019), Final Four (2017), and championship game (2018). For his efforts, he was honored with multiple accolades, including Ventura County Coach-of-the-Year (2018), Tri-Valley League Coach-of-the-Year (2016-18), and Frontier League Coach-of-the-Year (2015).
Edgmond then took over the program at Northwood High School, leading the program to its first CIF appearance in over a decade, reaching the CIF Elite 8 in 2021 and the Sweet 16 in 2022. He then took over the program at Beckman High School where he led the program to its first-ever 20-win seasons in program history (2024, 2025) and secured back-to-back league championships.
Edgmond holds a Master of Science in Education with an emphasis in Health and Physical Education and a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management with an emphasis in Athletic Training and a minor in Psychology, from Southwest Baptist University.
