MAY STATE ATHLETES OF THE MONTH
WOMEN
Madison Moe, De Anza College, badminton, sophomore
Moe, from Burma, helped the Mountain Lions earn the 3C2A team women's badminton championship, then captured the individual singles title at the state tournament held at San Diego City College. Moe won her #2 singles match and #2 doubles as De Anza blanked Pasadena City College, 11-0, in the team finals. In individuals, Moe, who reached the finals in 2022, picked up the elusive state singles crown by defeating De Anza teammate Anna Lac, 21-10, 21-12, in the finals. In her two seasons, Moe was a part of back-to-back, undefeated state champion De Anza teams that finished 29-0 combined.
MEN
Carson Adams, Saddleback College, golf, freshman
Saddleback's Adams was the 3C2A low medalist by tying the state record for lowest number of strokes, a two-day total of 136 while setting a new record as his 10-under-par was the lowest two-round total under par in tournament history, two shots better than Chabot's Jeremy Sanchez in 2015. He owned the Madera DragonFly course with back-to-back, 5-under-par 68s. Adams also achieved medalist honors with a 68 and 72 (140) in winning the SoCal championship and helping the Bobcats win the regional team title. Saddleback took state runner-up.
