Moorpark duo captures individual crown, Mt. SAC women and Riverside men rule SoCal XC Championships
SAN DIEGO - The annual 3C2A Southern California Cross Country Regionals took place at the historic Naval Training Center in San Diego, where perfect weather and a scenic course set the stage for outstanding performances from the region’s best runners.
This event serves as the main qualifier for the state championships at Woodward Park in Fresno on November 22, 2025. The top 16 teams and the top 30 individuals from non-qualifying teams who finish in the top half of the field will advance automatically.
In the Women’s 5K, Jocelyn Alba of Orange Coast pushed the pace early, opening an eight-second lead through the first loop, with Jazzlyn Islas of San Diego Mesa and Maya Natarajan of Moorpark in pursuit. Mt. San Antonio College quickly took control of the team race with six runners in the top twenty. With 1200 meters remaining, Natarajan made her move and pulled away to win in a course-record 17:46.90, breaking the 2022 mark of 18:03.3 set by Marikay Schwab of Golden West. Islas followed in 17:55.3, also under the record, and Alba placed third in 18:16.6.
The top 14 finishers earned All-Region honors: Jadeyn Skefich (El Camino) 18:25.5, Natalie Allen (SD Mesa) 18:26.1, Brianna Richards (Ventura) 18:26.9, Kiana Zerehgar (Saddleback) 18:42.0, Casey McConn (Mt. SAC) 18:48.4, Keona Mataali (LA Harbor) 18:51.4, Victoria Jamison (Canyons) 18:52.5, Sophia Ebiner (Mt. SAC) 18:55.6, Jocelyn Izarraraz-Rodriguez (Mt. SAC) 18:57.8, Jasmin Trujillo (Orange Coast) 19:01.7, and Angie Morales (LA Harbor) 19:03.7.
Mt. San Antonio College captured the team title with 61 points, followed by Orange Coast with 96 and San Diego Mesa with 108.
The men’s 4-mile race was tightly contested early, with ten runners together through the first loop at 7:30. Before the two-mile mark, Tommy White of Moorpark made his move, reaching three miles in 15:01, eight seconds ahead of Weston Greenelsh (Cuesta), Lucci Roberts (San Diego Mesa), and Joshua Morales (Cerritos). White pulled away to win in a course-record 19:56.7, breaking the 2024 mark of 19:57.5 set by Mesa’s Jyden Schmid. Greenelsh, the defending state champion, finished second in 20:07.6, and Roberts took third in 20:19.3.
All-Region honors went to Mario Aluizo (LA Harbor) 20:27.4, Micah Watson (San Bernardino Valley) 20:28.9, Alex Wesolowski (Riverside City) 20:29.5, Morales (Cerritos) 20:30.6, Trent Williams (Moorpark) 20:31.5, Joshua West (Riverside City) 20:36.2, Ivan Guzman (Cuyamaca) 20:37.7, John Gutierrez (Allan Hancock) 20:40.8, Jose Ramirez (San Diego Mesa) 20:42.7, Daniel Vestemean (Cuyamaca) 20:43.4, and Luis Mier (Riverside City) 20:44.0.
Riverside City won the team title with 79 points, followed by Cerritos with 98 and Cuyamaca with 121.
