Butte rolls to Golden Valley Conference cross country championships
UKIAH — Mendocino College hosted the Golden Valley Conference Championships. On Saturday morning, Butte College came away with a dominant performance, sweeping both the men’s and women’s team titles for the 3rd year in a row.
The Butte women scored 21 points, led by Ariana Garcia, who won the 5K race in 20:40 with a 1 minute lead. In second place was Gabby Crosswhite from Redwoods with a time of 21:41. From Butte, Jennifer Johnson followed in 22:10 for 3rd, Brooklyn Glover placed fourth in 22:24, and Kaia Henry from Shasta with a time of 22:29 in 5th. Teammates from Butte Gaby Castro in 6th with a time of 23:20, followed by Paulina Arias in 7th with a time of 23:46, and Camryn Dohn in 8th with a time of 25:42 to complete the sweep. Redwoods women placed second with a total of 53 points led by Gabby Crosswhite.

The Butte men’s team also took first place, led by Stephan Chapdelaine, Adrian Cuevas, Benji Granados, and Tristan Bobadilla all in the top 5, scoring 21 points ahead of Lake Tahoe (43) which was led by Jacob Manning, Redwoods (66), which was led by Levi Browne, and Mendocino (155), which was led by Spencer Joyce. Stephan Chapdelaine led the 4-mile race with 41 41-second lead and a time of 20:48, In second place was Jacob Manning (21:29). Followed by teammates from Butte: Adrian Cuevas (21:38) in 3rd, Benji Granados (21:49) in 4th, and Tristan Bobadilla (21:52) in 5th. In 6th place was Kyle Oltmanns from Lake Tahoe with a time of 21:54 followed by teammate Elijah Gilleland with a time of 22:02. In 8th was Everett Docherty with a time of 22:19.
