NorCal Female Athlete of the Week
Ariana Garcia, Butte College
Butte College standout Ariana Garcia has been named Northern California Athlete of the Week following an impressive performance at the Butte Invitational. Garcia finished second overall and was the top community college athlete in the field, recording a time of 21:06. Her effort places her third on the all-time performance list for the Butte course. Garcia’s consistency continues to elevate the Butte College women’s cross country program.
Benji Granados, Butte College
Butte College’s Benji Granados has been named Northern California Male Athlete of the Week following an exceptional performance at the Liam Sehorn Invitational, where he claimed first place overall with a time of 21:44. Granados has shown consistent progress throughout the season, and his latest achievement moves him to #4 on the all-time performance list for the Butte course. His continued improvement has been a key part of the Butte College men’s cross country program this season.
Socal Runners of the Week
Jazzlyn Islas – San Diego Mesa
1st place Manny Bautista Invite (SoCal Preview) 18:20. Islas has been the top freshman performer out of SoCal, starting with her runner-up performance at the Clovis Crush Invitational. She also placed second at the Pink in the Park. She also posted the fastest 6km by a community college female this fall at the Mike Johnson Invitational in Oregon.
1st place Manny Bautista Invite (SoCal Preview) 20:22. Morales has spearheaded a very good Falcon squad. In addition to his close victory over fellow ROTW recipient Luciano Roberts of San Diego Mesa, Morales won the early season Oxnard College Invitational and was runner-up in Bakersfield on October 3.
