Cerritos Tops East LA in Women's Wrestling Conference Dual Match
Cerritos defeated East LA in the first ever SCWA dual meet.
EAST LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The East LA Huskies and the Cerritos Falcons competed in the first women's wrestling dual match in the history of the Southern California Wrestling Alliance on Thursday, March 2nd. In a very competitive match, the Falcons came up on top with a 24-15 win.
Cerritos started off the match with 12 points on the board as they benefited from Huskie forfeits in the 109 and 116 pound bouts. But East LA would quickly erase that deficit as Deliah Feliz-Lopez earned a fall over Sabrina Sinohui in the 123 pound bout to tie the score at 6-6.
Arian Valdivia then gave the Huskies their first lead (9-6) with a 7-1 decision against Jewlisa Funakoshi of Cerritos at 128 pounds.
From there, Cerritos took control as they saw Jaylene Martinez pick up a win by injury default followed by another forfeit at 160 pounds. Nile Jernigan earned the Falcon's last win of the day with a victory by fall over Galiea Garcia-Salazar.
East LA's Isabella Calle brought the final score to 24-15 with her win by fall against Isabella Pacheco in the final match of the day.
