Long Beach City's Birdsall named 3C2A Women’s Water Polo Championship tourney MVP
SANTA CRUZ - Long Beach City goalkeeper Olivia “Lola” Birdsall was the Most Valuable Player of the 2025 3C2A Women’s Water Polo State Championships, the California Community College Water Polo Coaches Association (CCCWPCA) recently announced.
The first-year keeper from San Juan Capistrano stopped 22 of 39 shots (56%) to lead the Vikings to their 2nd-consecutive 3C2A title last month at Merced College. Birdsall also recorded six steals and five assists in the three-game tourney. She is the second-straight Long Beach “Olivia” to earn the state tournament MVP award, joining 2024’s Olivia Slavens.
Birdsall heads up 14 All-State Tournament 1st and 2nd Team selections. Long Beach coach Chris Oeding was named the Coach of the Year.
