San Diego Miramar Jets To #3 In State Women's Volleyball Top 25

While jockeying in Week #2 of the 3C2AWVCA State Top 25 Rankings was expected, the competitiveness of these early-season matches have stood out. There were a remarkable 29 matches that were decided in the fifth set, including 13 on Friday alone.
Feather River College held on to its #1 ranking after winning all four of its matches at the NorCal v. SoCal Showcase as did #2 host Fresno City and #5 San Mateo.
San Diego Miramar has emerged as a new leader in the South at #3 as the Jets swept #6 Long Beach City and beat #8 Moorpark.
Other South teams of note include Santa Monica slotting in at #4 while LA Mission uses its second tourney championship to hold steady at #9.
Win-loss records are always a great barometer of success but so is strength of schedule and that has allowed currently below-.500 squads in Long Beach (3-4), #7 San Diego Mesa (2-4) to stay in the top 10, and Bakersfield (3-4) to move up 10 spots to #10. And even #11 San Joaquin Delta right at .500 (3-3) is still in the thick of the top squads. All of these teams were part of the N-S Showcase.
Nine teams remain undefeated after two weeks. Two Golden Valley Conference squads--Feather River and #23 Lassen--are tied for the state's most victories with eight each.
The Western State Conference has four teams in the Top 10, two each from the South (SMC, Bakersfield) and North (Moorpark, LA Mission) and six overall in the rankings with #16 Ventura and #24 Santa Barbara City--each from the powerful WSC North.
Four new teams joined the Top 25 this week in #20 Shasta, #22 Pasadena City, Lassen, and #25 Clovis.
This week, the annual Delta Classic features NorCal's best and one more LA Mission Tournament--The Eagle Invitational both take place Friday-Saturday, Sept. 11-12.
