COD Women's Soccer Grabs First Win of the Season, Knocks Off Bulldogs, 2-0

COD (1-2-2) made the over six-hour drive to Santa Maria to grab their first win of the season, knocking off the Allan Hancock Bulldogs (2-3), 2-0.

The Roadrunners first competed against Allan Hancock in 2015 and hold a 2-0 overall record against them. Desert also holds a 2-0 record against the Bulldogs in Santa Maria.

Sophomore goalkeeper Alejandra Carrillo (La Quinta H.S.) recorded her first clean sheet of the season and the second of her career, as the defense in front of her kept things quiet, allowing only three shots on goal all afternoon.

Sophomore forward Willow Jones (Yucca Valley H.S.) notched her first multi-goal game of her career, scoring both goals for the Roadrunners.

Freshman forward Jezyl Rueda (Rancho Mirage H.S.) picked up her first assist of the season, setting up Jones in the 8th minute to put the Roadrunners on the board first.

Freshman midfielder Nevaeh Cruz (Palm Desert H.S.) recorded her third straight game with at least one assist, lobbing a pass into Jones, who buried it in the back of the net for her second goal of the game.

The Roadrunners continue non-conference play on Friday, September 18 at 7:30 p.m., hosting the Long Beach City Vikings at home. This will be the first time in program history that COD hosts Long Beach City in women's soccer. COD holds an 0-2 record against the Vikings.
