CCCAA WOMEN'S SOCCER: Scoreboard l Standings
MODESTO, Calif. - Breanna Brumet scored in the first half and Riley Spitzer added another in the second as the undefeated Folsom Lake College women's soccer team won its fifth straight game and posted its 10th shutout with a 2-0 win over host Modesto Junior College on Friday afternoon.
The victory kept the Falcons perfect in the Big 8 Conference with an 8-0-1 record while improving their overall mark to 13-0-1. Modesto fell to 5-7-2 overall and 2-6-1 in league play. Folsom Lake has outscored its opponents 18-1 during its recent winning streak, which began after a 1-1 tie at Santa Rosa Junior College on Sept. 26.
The Pirates battled the Falcons tough in the early going, holding them scoreless for most of the first half. But Brumet finally broke through for Folsom Lake in the 40th minute when she connected off an assist from Keionna Claypoole in the 40th minute for a 1-0 lead. The advantage was widened to 2-0 in the 68th minute when Tiara Webb found teammate Riley Spitzer for a score.
Folsom Lake finished with 15 shots in the game.
The Falcons return to action on Tuesday when they host American River in the first of three consecutive home games. Modesto will play the first of four straight road games when the Pirates travel to Solano on Tuesday.
