PREVIEW: 3C2A Men’s Wrestling Championships
All 22 men's wrestling programs in the state will battle at Cuesta College in the 2023 3C2A State Championships from December 8-9th.
The 3C2A Men's Wrestling State Championship is set to take place at Cuesta College from Friday, December 8th through Saturday, December 9th. Start times are set for 10:00 a.m. on both days.
After taking home the dual team state championship and finishing first with 223.5 team points at the 3C2A Southern California Regionals, Mt. San Antonio College has to be the favorite entering the tournament.
The Mounties are led by three standouts in Christopher Calderon (125 LBS), Alex Ramirez (157 LBS) and Nathan Cruz (174 LBS) who all took the top spot in their weight classes at the Southern California Regionals last weekend.
In the North, Fresno City College seems to be the biggest threat to take the title home as the Rams have shown that they can compete with anyone all season. FCC posted 226 points to win the Northern California Regionals last weekend and were also the state runner up in the dual team championships.
The Rams also saw three wrestlers win their brackets with Tallon Chambers (125 LBS), Adrian Chavez (133 LBS), Matthew Terrence (141 LBS) earning the top podium spots.
Several other highly ranked teams will be in hunt for a championship including Sacramento City, Cerritos and Bakersfield.
