Mt. SAC's McFerson, SRJC's Washington Region Players of Year As Part Of CCCWBCA All-State Team
Mt. San Antonio College sophomore forward Taliyah McFerson was selected as the South Region Player of the Year while Santa Rosa Junior College freshman forward Jordan Washington is the North Player of the Year as the CCCWBCA released its 2025-26 All-State Team today.
McFerson, who passed the 1,000-point milestone in her two seasons for the Mounties, was the MVP of the South Coast Conference North Division and her second year has even surpassed her achievements as a freshman when she was selected All-3C2A State Tournament and All-State First Team for the 2024-25 regular season. She helped Mt. SAC win the state championship last season and looks to lead the South Coast Conference North Division champion Mounties as the frontrunner at 27-1 and #1 South seed into to the upcoming postseason.
At 5-foot-10 in height and from Lynwood High, McFerson averages 17 points, 10.2 rebounds and led the entire 11-team SCC in field goal percentage at a 62.5 percent accuracy, also third in the state in that statistical category.
Washington, a 6-foot talent out of Justin Siena High in Napa, helped Santa Rosa (23-5 record) secure a #5 seed despite being the third place team in the powerful Big 8 Conference. She was selected as the Big 8 MVP after averaging 19.4 points, 9.8 rebounds. She is currently second in the state in FG percentage at 62.7 and her 83 blocked shots leads all California Community College players.
In the North, 12 schools were represented out of its 18 selections with #2 Folsom Lake and #3 seed Laney with three each and both #1 San Joaquin Delta and #11 San Jose City with two each.
The South had 11 colleges represented for its 18 players, led by Mt. SAC and #3 seed Moorpark with three each, then #2 seed Irvine Valley, #6 Cypress, and #7 Mt. San Jacinto all with two.
There were five repeat All-State selections in McFerson, San Joaquin Delta's Fajr Cuthebertston, Cypress' Christaesha Jackson, Glendale's Shadel Ffrench, and MiraCosta's Anayla Anderson.
All 36 student-athletes will be honored at the annual CCCWBCA State Banquet of Champions/Hall of Fame held Mar. 11 at College of the Sequoias (6 p.m.) prior to the start of the 3C2A State Championships at the Visalia campus Mar. 12, 14-15.
