Cougars Stay Hot: LA Southwest Extends Winning Streak with Dominant Performance Over El Camino
The LA Southwest Cougars continued their late-season surge, proving they are a force to be reckoned with in conference play after a commanding 66–51 victory over the El Camino College Falcons at home.
After early struggles in conference competition, the Cougars appear to have found their rhythm at the perfect time. With the win, LA Southwest improves to 5–3 in conference play, extending their winning streak to three games and moving into a tie for second place.
Thursday night's home matchup showcased the Cougars' ability to compete at a high level and demonstrated why they are quickly becoming one of the more formidable teams in the conference.
Despite being a predominantly freshman roster, LA Southwest displayed poise, toughness, and grit throughout the contest against a physical El Camino squad. The Cougars set the tone early with an explosive first quarter, shooting an impressive 64.7% from the field and jumping out to a commanding 26–9 lead that they would never relinquish.

Freshman standout Emaya Trahan led all scorers with an efficient 21 points on 10-of-15 shooting, while also contributing five rebounds and three assists. Her presence in the paint and ability to finish consistently helped anchor the Cougars' offense.
Rian Dillihunt added 15 points, knocking down two three-pointers and contributing across the board with three assists and two steals.
Destiny Hurt-Floyd contributed a strong all-around performance with 10 points, six rebounds, four assists, and five steals, impacting the game on both ends of the floor with her defensive energy.
LaiLah Whittle provided valuable minutes off the bench, finishing with 10 points and seven rebounds, helping the Cougars maintain momentum throughout the game.
