Long Beach City soars into top 10
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – No. 1 San Mateo moves to a staggering 32-0 and Long Beach City’s stellar week leads them back into the top ten in week 11 of the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches’ Association Coaches’ Poll.
The Vikings, led by 3CFCA Player of the Week, Ella Haugo, went 4-0, beating three ranked opponents to jump to 25-8-1 on the season. Haugo, the state’s leader in ERA, helped her cause, mashing four homers, including a grand slam to cap off a six-RBI day in a win over No. 12 Mt. SAC.
Around the state, most stays the same in the north, although No. 17 Folsom Lake replaced Sacramento City who sniffed the poll a week ago. The south’s shake up is primarily due to the 10-spot ascension of Long Beach as all 10 south teams retained notoriety in the poll.
In other news, in a top-three meeting between San Mateo and No. 3 West Valley, the Bulldogs were victorious in five innings, 12-4.
