Coast Conference foes sit atop week six poll
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Only two unbeatens remain after Palomar drops its first contest, changing the top three of the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches’ Association Coaches’ Poll in week six.
No. 2 West Valley leaps No. 3 Palomar for the first time this season. The 16-0 Vikings sit just below Coast Conference foe No. 1 San Mateo who’s won 35-straight games dating back to April 3, 2025.
The Coast Conference represents some of the state’s best softball, holding four of California’s top nine squads. They combine for a record of 63-6 through the first month and a half of the season.
No. 4 Mt. San Antonio College earned the state’s biggest win, ending Palomar’s winning streak with a 3-2 win in extra innings on Saturday, February 28. The Mounties are 15-2 and hold the most wins in the south.
No. 7 Fullerton makes a nine spot leap after sweeping a doubleheader with No. 10 El Camino (previously No. 5). The Hornets’ Sam Vizcarra earned a 10-inning shutout victory over the Warriors. She allowed just two hits and three baserunners in the win.
No. 19 Southwestern returns after dropping out a week ago. The Jaguars are seventh in RPI in the south with a 10-5 record.
