Twente's speed, Cruz's no-no power duo to 3CFCA weekly honors
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Grace Twente of Citrus College and Liliana Cruz of Sierra College earn California Community College Fastpitch Coaches’ Association Player and Pitcher of the Week on Monday, March 23.
For the second straight week, the Pitcher of the Week left an opponent hitless. Cruz tossed a five-inning, nine strikeout no hitter as the Wolverines defeated Modesto on Tuesday. She followed that up with another nine-strikeout performance. This time, Cruz allowed a run over six innings to defeat American River. Sierra went 3-0 on the week and leapt into first place in the Big 8.
Twente was a tough out at the plate, going 8-for-10 as Citrus reached the 20-win mark on the season. Twente’s week eclipsed with a 5-for-5 performance in a 10-7 win over No. 6 Fullerton. She swiped five bags and scored six runs. Twente is now fifth in the state in stolen bases with 26 and is hitting .500.
