San Mateo continues to dominate
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – No. 1 San Mateo remains undefeated and leads the way in week nine of the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches’ Association Coaches’ Poll.
The Bulldogs earned another ranked win, this time taking down No. 5 Hartnell on Saturday. Gianna Tassio threw a five inning perfect game to defeat the Panthers. She struck out five of the 15 batters she faced.
No. 2 Palomar, No. 3 West Valley and No. 4 Mt. San Antonio College hold strong as the trio has trailed San Mateo for the majority of the season, not wavering at the top. West Valley most recently earned its second loss, handed to them by No. 9 Sierra. Lilianna Cruz of the Wolverines tossed a complete-game shut out to stifle the Vikings 1-0.
No. 18 Long Beach returns into the mix after going 4-1 on the week, beating No. 7 Cerritos and No. 8 El Camino in the process. The South Coast Conference is a juggernaut with four ranked squads.
