Same trio atop week five poll

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – For the fifth-straight week the top three remain the same, but a slight shake up in the top five in this week’s California Community College Fastpitch Coaches’ Association Coaches’ Poll.

While No. 1 San Mateo, No. 2 Palomar and No. 3 West Valley hold strong at the top – the trio combining for a record of 40-0 as the state’s only unbeatens – No. 4 Mt. San Antonio leapt El Camino after handing the Warriors their first loss on Saturday, February 21, 12-0.

Although 8-8, No. 20 American River earns a spot in the poll. The Beavers had the state’s most difficult schedule to begin the season, facing San Mateo, West Valley, No. 8 Cabrillo and No. 10 Hartnell in non-conference play. The Beavers lost all contests by three or fewer runs, helping ARC earn the fourth spot in the north’s RPI rankings.

No. 12 Cerritos returns for the first time since the preseason poll. The Falcons are 5-0 in South Coast Conference play with ranked wins over No. 9 Long Beach and No. 17 Antelope Valley.
