Avila perfect, Solis stands out in Week Three
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Destiny Solis of West Valley and Mia Avila of Santa Rosa earn California Community College Fastpitch Coaches’ Association Player and Pitcher of the Week as the Vikings move to 9-0 and Avila spins a perfect game.
After a no-hitter from Iris Perez a week ago, Avila one-ups Perez with a perfect game. Albeit in five innings, Avila allowed no base runners and struck out eight in a 16-0 victory over Yuba. It was the start to a 3-1 week for the Bearcubs as they split with No. 11 Hartnell later in the week.
Destiny Solis went 8-for-16 at the plate as West Valley swept double headers with No. 6 Cosumnes River and Modesto in back-to-back days. Solis shined defensively as the catcher caught the go-ahead run stealing in extra innings of the final game against CRC.
