Five new teams join rankings in week two poll
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A big shakeup in the top 20 as five teams leap into the top 20 in week two of the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches’ Association Poll.
San Mateo, Palomar and West Valley remain at the top as the three teams combine for a 7-0 record through the first two weeks of the season. The No. 1 Bulldogs have played the most games, outscoring opponents 33-7 in four games.
The top four in the south – Palomar, Long Beach, Mt. San Antonio and El Camino – are all unbeaten prior to contests on Tuesday, February 4. No. 4 Long Beach trounced reigning Orange Empire champs Orange Coast 11-0 on Jan. 29. However, none of the four have as many wins as No. 20 East Los Angeles. The Huskies lead the south with a 6-0 record, allowing just 1.5 runs per game.
No. 8 Cabrillo soars into the top ten. The Seahawks are 5-0 on the season with wins over preseason No. 12 San Jose City and frequent vote getting American River. They’re led by Coast Conference RBI leader, Grace Stryker.
No. 11 Antelope Valley, No. 15 San Diego Mesa and No. 17 Folsom Lake make up the remainder of the newcomers.
