Solano's Aston signs with softball newcomer Westcliff University to help get program going
FAIRFIELD - Outfielder Caitlin Aston has signed with Westcliff University to help start the school's softball program in 2021, announced Wednesday.
"Caitlin will be a large part of [Westcliff's] success with her leadership, speed, and high academic skills," Solano head softball coach Nikki Gentile said.
Aston played in 55 games for the Falcons, hitting .268 with 38 total hits. She stole 37 total bases in her career, 31 during her rookie season, which ranked fourth in the state. She added 24 RBI during the 2019 season, helping her earn All-Bay Valley Conference First Team honors.
Naturally left-handed, she became a natural slapper at the plate with speed that set her apart. She was also named team captain both seasons for her work ethic and academic success.
Aston will graduate this month with a degree in criminal justice and liberal studies with one of the team's top GPAs.
Westcliff University is located in Irvine, Calif., and competes in the NAIA.
