Week #1 Players and Pitchers of the Week Announced
The California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association is pleased to announce it's Week #1 Northern and Southern California Players and Pitchers of the Week. College of San Mateo's Brooke Ramsey was the NorCal Player of the Week, while Cosumnes River College's Amanda Horbasch was the NorCal Pitcher of the Week. In the South Santa Ana College swept the awards with Keila Tenoria being named the Player of the Week and Frances Campoy the Pitcher of the Week.
Northern California Player of the Week – Brooke Ramsey – College of San Mateo
Sophomore Brooke Ramsey burst on to the scene in the first week of the season, by leading the Bulldogs to a 4-0 start. Ramsey blasted four home runs and drove in 17 RBI's. Ramsey is a infielder out of San Mateo, CA where she attended Aragon High School.
Northern California Pitcher of the Week – Amanda Horbasch – Cosumnes River College
Freshman Amanda Horbasch played a key role in the Hawk's 2-0 start. In the first game of the year, Horbasch threw a two hit shutout with 13 strikeouts and just two walks. She also went 1 for 3 at the plate with a run and an RBI. In the second game, Horbasch played in the field, going 3 for 3 with an RBI and a double. Horbasch is a right hander out of Roseville, CA.
Southern California Player of the Week – Keila Tenoria – Santa Ana College
Sophomore Keila Tenorio helped get the Dons off to a 3-0 start. Tenorio was 6 for 8 at the plate, with a double, a triple, two RBI's, and four runs scored. Tenorio is a outfielder for the Dons.
Southern California Pitcher of the Week – Frances Campoy – Santa Ana College
Sophomore Frances Campoy factored into all three of the Dons victories to open the season. After being the winning pitcher in the Dons first two games, Campoy earned the save in the Dons 9-4 victory over defending state champion Palomar, holding the Comets to just one hit over four innings. Campoy allowed just six hits total in her 14 innings of work while recording six strikeouts. She also allowed just one unearned run to keep a 0.00 ERA as she went 2-0 with one save.
