State champion Orange Coast reigns supreme in final CCCMVBCA rankings

IRVINE - The final California Community College Men’s Volleyball Coaches Association State Poll features the same team at the top that has been there since the beginning of February.

Orange Coast claimed its third straight 3C2A State Championship and finished the 2024 season with a record of 20-0 overall after defeating San Diego Mesa, 25-22, 25-13, 25-23, in the final on Apr. 27 at OCC.

The Pirates captured their 10th state title overall. Jacob Surrette was named the event's Most Valuable Player, leading with eight kills and two aces in the title match. Andrew Robbins also had a big showing in the final with 10 kills on 12 attempts and adding four blocks.

San Diego Mesa ended the year second in the poll after finishing with a record of 21-5 overall, winning the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference and reaching the state final. Trevor Clark finished with 12 kills and hit .375 in the final for Mesa.

Golden West (16-5) and Long Beach City (13-7), each making the semifinals, were third and fourth in the end-of-year poll.

And, Santa Monica, Moorpark, Irvine Valley, Santa Barbara City, San Diego Miramar and Grossmont wrapped up the top 10.
