CYPRESS - Frisk Driscoll has been named the new Swim and Dive Head Coach at Cypress College. The appointment comes following a comprehensive national search after the retirement of long-time swim coach, Larry Beidler.
"We are excited about the direction Coach Driscoll will take our swim and dive program," Cypress Athletic Director Wes McCurtis said. "His passion and energy for the sport of swimming, along with his proven track record as a high-level competitor and coach, are what really set him apart. Coach Driscoll is committed to the overall success of our student-athletes and I can't wait to see the impact he has on our growing aquatics program."
Frisk joins Cypress College after two successful seasons as the Assistant Swim Coach at Fairfield University in Connecticut. Fairfield competes in NCAA Division I as a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Frisk helped lay the groundwork for the program's turnaround in his time as Assistant Coach. While at Fairfield, both the men's and women's swim team achieved Academic All-American honors each semester, and the women won back-to-back MAAC Conference Championships, the first in school history. Prior to Fairfield University, he was the Head Varsity Coach for the boys' swim team at Staples High School for five seasons. Coach Driscoll was named Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, after leading his team to a 10-1 overall record and second-place finish in the FCIAC Championships in 2014.
Frisk is heavily involved with SOCAL Aquatics where he has maintained a USA Swimming Silver level status, being recognized annually as a top tier club in USA Swimming. Athletes have gone on to qualify for Futures, Junior Nationals and Olympic Trials as well as producing CIF state champions and numerous student-athletes that have competed at all levels of intercollegiate swimming.
Competitively, Frisk had success as a student-athlete swimming for the University of Connecticut where he made it to the finals in the 1650 Freestyle at the Big East Conference Championships three years in a row. Frisk graduated from UCONN in 2010 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management.
