Coyotes cap off undefeated week with 3-3 draw vs De Anza
LTCC relied on its super subs to twice battle back from deficits and come away with a point.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — The Lake Tahoe Community College men's soccer team capped off its most successful week under first-year head coach Carlos Trujeque Leal with a 3-3 draw against visiting De Anza on Friday evening.
After earning its first three points of 2026 in a thrilling victory over American River on Tuesday afternoon, LTCC (1-2-2) relied on its super subs against De Anza (1-2-1) to twice battle back from deficits and come away with a point.
The Coyotes fell behind within the first seven minutes, but Tuesday's hero Mason Franks earned a penalty kick that Joseph Gonzalez confidently put away to tie the score 1-1 in the 19th minute.
LTCC would commit a cardinal sin by conceding once again just before halftime in the 43rd minute. However, adjustments were in order.
A little over 10 minutes into the second half, Alexis Soto headed home his first goal of the season off a corner kick from reserve midfielder Armando Medina to pull even, 2-2.
Soto, a freshman from Incline Village, showed his versatility throughout the second half, involving himself in the attack while proving useful defensively. With eight minutes to go, he found substitute Elijah Hayes on a cross that Hayes deposited into the back of the net to make it 3-2.
Unfortunately, the Coyotes couldn't hold on as De Anza — which entered the season ranked No. 17 in the United Soccer Coaches DIII National Poll — scored the equalizer in the final moments by pouncing on a loose ball during messy play within the LTCC penalty area.
"We played our best football of the season, but we couldn't keep our composure and shape, which led to their equalizer," said Trujeque Leal. "We're going to keep on working to grow into a 90-minute-plus team. Our substitutes deserve a lot of credit for changing the course of the match."
The Coyotes conclude their four-game homestand on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 15, against Chabot College at 2pm LTCC will play two away games on Friday, Sept. 18, and Saturday, Sept. 19, against Las Positas and Skyline, respectively.
