SAN FRANCISCO - Evergreen Valley College Men's Soccer (12-3-3) are Coast Conference South Champions on their final day of the regular season.
Having to win at City College of San Francisco to win the title outright, freshman Manalo Joaquin scored early in the second half as EVC held on for the 1-0 victory. It was Joaquin's sixth goal of the season and the team's eighth shutout.
EVC finishes the Coast South at 9-2-2, one game ahead of West Valley College, which won earlier in the day to keep pace.
EVC is 12-3-3 overall, having been ranked No. 1 in the State in the power point rankings in each of the last two seasons for head coach Simon Cook.
EVC will now await playoff seeding for the 32CA Playoffs, which start on November 19.
It is the first Coast title for the program since the Hawks won in 2008 and 2010.
