REDWOOD CITY - With a 10-day break from their Big 8 Conference schedule, the Folsom Lake College men's soccer team traveled to Redwood City on Tuesday afternoon to play at Cañada College, where the Falcons - ranked No. 5 in California by the California Community College Sports Information Association - defeated the Colts 3-0.
The only goal of the first half came just four minutes into the match when the Falcons broke through the pressing Cañada defense and team scoring leader Kameron Kascht connected for his 9th goal of the season. The remainder of the first half was a stalemate as both teams pressed their opponent deep in their own side of the field. Twenty minutes into the second half, the Falcons added to their score with a goal by freshman Andres Maldonado-Conejo, his third of the season. Jaden Defazio's goal with just under 10 minutes to play finalized the scoring for the Falcons. Goalkeeper Joshua Moya recorded his seventh shutout of the season to earn the win.
The Falcons (10-1-3 overall) will travel to Merced on Friday to take on the state's No. 6 ranked Merced Blue Devils (9-1-3 overall) in what shapes up to be an epic non-conference match at 4 pm.
