LONG BEACH - Playing in natural grass is something the LACC cubs don't often do, in fact, the cubs had not done it in their first 11 games. The first game of conference play for the cubs was played at Cabrillo High School against the Long Beach Community College Vikings, who acted as hosts on October 5th. The Vikings defeated the Cubs one goal to zero.
Both teams played a hard fought and physical match where the sun was a factor for both teams during each half. The ball traveled a bit slower than usual due to the patchy natural grass field. A well executed free kick was what made the difference in the 20th minute.
Unlike their previous game, the cubs appeared to have made defensive improvements, but their offense has gone cold for the last two games. LACC searched for the equalizer but missed the few clear opportunities they had.
Several LACC players who have been out due to injury should be returning this week as the cubs will now face Mt. San Antonio College on Friday, October 8th, at 6pm at LA City College.
