Winning streak extended to three wins for the LA City Cubs

LOS ANGELES - The winning streak has extended to three wins as the LA City Cubs defeated the Mira Costa Spartans on Tuesday, September 21st at Los Angeles City College. 
 
The visitors had the first clear chance of the match in the 20th minute when a Mira Costa forward took a shot from 30 yards that goalkeeper Luis Villegas saved. 
 
Coach Javier Aguiniga Campos looked to his bench to break the deadlock and found the answer in forward Jesus Marin, who changed the outcome of the game. 
 
Minutes after coming in, Marin assisted forward Ivan Castrejon who beat the keeper with a shot from close range in the 35th minute of the first half. Five minutes later Marin would chase down a ball, win it, beat his marker, and strike the ball from about 30 yards out that would curl in beautifully and find the top corner for LA City's second goal of the match. A GOLAZO. 
 
Mira Costa reacted and almost took advantage of an emotional LACC team still celebrating their second goal but Luis Villegas blocked the shot with his foot, denying the Spartans a clear opportunity to close in. 
 
During the second half the Cubs had several scoring opportunities to extend their lead. A shot by Midfielder Felipe Alvarez from mid range struck the cross bar and a header by Kender Ruiz was blocked by the keeper.
 
The ref blew the final whistle and the Cubs won the match two goals to zero. LACC will now host Norco College who is coming of a win streak also, on Friday, September 24th, at 6pm.
