Fresno City College's path to the 2016 CCCAA State Championship game has been a tough one, as the Rams had to beat the State Runner-Up from 2015 in Evergreen Valley College during their first game, before defeating previously undefeated Feather River College in their regional final match-up. The Rams' test on Friday night wasn't any easier as they took on the defending State champs in Oxnard College. Fresno prevailed once again, knocking off the Condors 2-1.
Fresno scored its first goal in the 40th minute after Ulises Ramos started a breakaway that led to a goal by Alfredo Lopez. It looked like the Rams would make it into the break with the lead, but Oxnard had other ideas and scored a goal in extra time by Raul Gonzalez to knot the score at 1-1.
In the second half, the game appeared to be headed for overtime, but Fresno took a 2-1 lead in the 84th minute thanks to a goal by Jose Ramirez with Noel Prieto assisting. Oxnard's Luis Cabera had two shots in stoppage time that looked promising, but Fresno keeper Bailey Brogan came up big stopping the shots. Brogan would finish with four saves.
