RIVERSIDE - Fullerton College retook the No. 1 ranking in this week’s CCCMBCA Top 30 poll as voted on by coaches.

The Hornets, winners of six straight, have opened Orange Empire Conference play with consecutive wins. Meanwhile, San Francisco, which lost two voters for the top pot, finished just two points behind Fullerton. The defending state champions have also won six straight (eight straight against California community colleges) will open Coast-North play on Wednesday at No. 19 Las Positas.

East Los Angeles, behind an impressive road win against West Valley, climbed to No. 3. A month ago, the Huskies had fallen to No. 12 in the state. But, behind an impressive nine-game win streak, East Los Angeles has climbed back to the top of the CCCMBCA Top 30 poll. The Huskies will play four consecutive South Coast crossover contests (count as nonconference contests) before opening division play. West Valley falls to No. 4 after losing 81-78 to East Los Angele on December 20. Citrus, which is tied with East Los Angeles and San Jose City for the state’s longest win streak at nine, settles in at No. 5. The Owls were propelled by its upset win over LA Harbor on December 20 as well as victories over Chaffey and San Diego City since the last poll. Citrus opens Western State-South play this week.

After an impressive showing in Arizona, San Bernardino Valley climbs to No. 6. The Wolverines nearly won the Fiesta Bowl Shootout, falling to Salt Lake Community College, the NJCAA’s No. 1-ranked program. San Diego City falls to No. 7. The Knights are 3-0 since losing to Citrus. San Jose moves into the top 10 riding a nine-game win streak that features key wins over Las Positas, Los Medanos, Diablo Valley, Yuba and Fresno — all ranked programs.

Yuba, meanwhile, falls three slots to No. 9. The 49’ers are 6-0 since falling to San Jose City. Sequoias returns to top 10 after assembling a six-game win streak with wins over Cerritos, Gavilan and San Mateo – each ranked this week.

The rest of the Top 30 is below. The next poll will be conducted on January 16.
