Standout trio honored as Players of the Week by CCCWPCA
SARATOGA - As conference action heats up, so do the individual performances, as evidenced by the CCCWPCA Players of the Week for the week of Sept. 30.
The CCCWPCA Week Five Players of the Week:
NorCal
Men
For the second time this season, an American River College Beaver is the North Men’s Player of the Week. Bode Farren recorded 47 saves, stopping 55% of opponent attempts, in wins against Fresno Pacific, #10 Mt. San Antonio, #5 Orange Coast, Riverside, and a gritty 14-13 loss to #7 Cuesta. The freshman netminder from Del Oro High School in Loomis recorded 12 saves against Riverside, 10 vs. Mt. SAC and nine each vs. OCC and Cuesta.
Women
The San Joaquin Delta Mustangs had 4-1 week, including a 3-1 mark at the ultra-competitive Mountie Classic in Walnut, thanks to the continued scoring efforts of Lauryn Lucero. The first-year attacker from Tracey’s Kimball High School lit up the scoreboard with 23 goals in those five games, to go along with 15 steals. “Lauryn brings a very diverse offensive threat to the game,” said Mustang coach Nathan Varosh. “Her vision of the pool and ability to dissect the defense gives her so many opportunities to score or move the ball into position. She has a powerful and accurate shot, but her selflessness is also starting to shine.”
SoCal
Women
Sophomore utility player Nalani Galindo boosted 7th-ranked San Diego Miramar to a 4-0 week with all four wins coming at the Mountie Classic. The Jets’ perfect tournament featured Galindo’s 17 goals, seven steals, two assists and 13 drawn ejections. The Poway High School product logged six goals, an assist, two steals and three drawn ejections in a tournament-opening win against Ventura. In a day-two victory over Cypress, Galindo recorded four goals, one assist, five steals and five drawn ejections.
