AVC Announces Tim Rasmussen as New Athletic Director

Lancaster, Calif. - Antelope Valley College (AVC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Timothy Rasmussen as the college's new Athletic Director, where he will lead Marauder Athletics and continue AVC's commitment to excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, and student development.

A Southern California native who grew up in Arcadia, Rasmussen has dedicated his professional career to athletics, education, leadership, physical performance, and service to others. His guiding motto, "service above self," reflects the values that have shaped his career and his commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of student-athletes and the communities he serves.

Rasmussen earned his bachelor's degree from Azusa Pacific University and his master's degree from Concordia University of Irvine. His professional experience includes serving as an Athletic Trainer, Strength Coach, Educator, and Director of Physical Therapy Outreach Programs. Through these roles, he has developed a comprehensive background in athletic performance, injury prevention, rehabilitation, teaching, mentoring, and athlete development.

Rasmussen has been a member of the Antelope Valley College community for the past nine years, establishing himself as a valued member of both the college and Marauder Athletics. In his new role as Athletic Director, he will oversee the college's intercollegiate athletics program and work collaboratively with student-athletes, coaches, faculty, staff, and community partners to support the continued growth and success of Marauder Athletics. 

"I am honored and excited to serve as the Athletic Director at Antelope Valley College," said Rasmussen. "AVC has been an important part of my professional journey for the past nine years, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving this college, our student-athletes, our coaches, and the Antelope Valley community. My goal is to build upon the strong tradition of Marauder Athletics while creating opportunities for our student-athletes to succeed academically, athletically, and personally."

As an educator and athletic leader, Rasmussen believes in developing the whole person—not simply the athlete. He is passionate about helping student-athletes maximize their potential while recognizing that their collegiate athletic experience is also an opportunity to develop leadership, discipline, resilience, teamwork, and other skills that will serve them well beyond the playing field.

Under Rasmussen's leadership, Marauder Athletics will continue to emphasize student-athlete success both in competition and in the classroom while preparing students for meaningful opportunities beyond their collegiate athletic careers. "Service above self" will remain central to Rasmussen's approach as he begins his tenure as Athletic Director. He is committed to building upon Antelope Valley College's tradition of excellence while strengthening the relationships and opportunities that allow Marauder student-athletes, coaches, and programs to thrive.
