FRC Baseball Advances to 3C2A State Championships
Quincy, Calif. - The 2026 Feather River College baseball team is going where very few teams before them have gone---the 3C2A Final Four Baseball Championships at the Great Park in Irvine.
For just the fourth time in school history, the Golden Eagles are headed to the state championship, May 23-25 in southern California. Feather River will open the double-elimination tournament on Saturday at noon against Palomar College. If they win, they play on Sunday at 2 pm, if they lose they will at 10 am on Sunday.
The other two teams in the Final Four are Santa Ana and Ohlone.
Today, the Golden Eagles rode the arm of Tanner Hail. Hail went the distance and didn't allow an earned run, gave up just five hits and three walks and he struck out four. He had support from the very beginning as the home team scored once each in the first two innings and added three in the third. Those runs in third came via one hit as the Golden Eagles used a combination of walks, hit batters, wild pitches and stolen bases to take a 5-0 lead.
The Vikings got two unearned runs back in the top of the fourth, but FRC answered with two of their own, this time without a hit.
That would be all the scoring in the game, and Hail continue to deal and FRC fans began to make plans for a trip to Orange County.
Legend Lancaster and Kory Chu had two hits each for coach Terry Baumgartner's team, who had seven hits in the game.
The Golden Eagles previously made trips to the Final Four in 2013, 2014 and 2022.
"I am excited for our team, coaches and fans," Baumgartner said. "This is something we worked hard for, but a lot of things have to go your way during the course of a season. We will just keep playing the way we play and hope to bring home a championship.
