Hannon begins new role at De Anza
CUPERTINO - Ron Hannon became De Anza College's first Director of Athletics & Student-Athlete Success (a new management position at the school) on March 7, 2022.
During his tenure, Hannon served the college in a variety of leadership roles including lead negotiator for faculty labor relations; evaluating team member of institutional effectiveness; co-chair of Standard 1 within the campus wide accreditation process; chair of the Staff Recognition & Service Committee; administrative representative to the District Technology Committee; Chief Operations Lead for the Emergency Operations Center; and the chair of the Expenditure Reduction Task Force.
Hannon has served on various statewide committees within the California Community College Athletic Association, Management Council, and Northern California Football Conference. He has served the Coast Conference as president and vice president.
In 2019, Hannon was recognized by the California Community College Athletic Director's Association as the Athletic Director of Year.
Prior to his role at Gavilan College, he served as the Assistant Athletics Director for Student Support Services at San Jose State University. During his tenure at SJSU, Hannon developed a nationally recognized life skills program as part of the NCAA Champs/Life Skills initiative required for Division I member institutions. He currently still serves as an advisory board member within the Department of Kinesiology at SJSU.
Hannon holds a Master of Arts Degree in Human Performance with an emphasis in Societal Studies and Sports Management and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Performance with an emphasis in Teaching from San Jose State University. He holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies (Multiple Subjects) from Gavilan College.
In 2016, he successfully completed the Institute for Management and Leadership in Education program within the Graduate School of Education at Harvard University in Boston, MA. Ron is a former student-athlete from both Gavilan College and SJSU where he was a member of the men's basketball teams.
Hannon and his wife, Judy, reside in San Jose with their two children, Zachary and Taylor.
