Bio

Lou Ann began her collegiate career in 1969 at El Camino College, where she played on what was then called a womenns volleyball state championshipp team before transferring to California State University, Long Beach; earning a national championship in 1973. She is a member of both the El Camino College and the CSULB Hall of Fame. She is a six-time AAU All-American and played on the Pan American Team in 1971. Lou Ann also represented the US twice in the World University Games, as a player in 1973 and as an assistant coach in 1977. 

Lou Ann then became the Golden West College (GWC) volleyball coach, leading the program during its formative years and building it into one of California community collegess best. She coached the Rustler women from their initial year of competition in 1975 until 1982. She posted an overall record of 99-15, winning the collegees first Womenns Volleyball State Championship in 1979 just four years after the GWC program began. Lou Ann also coached the Rustler menns volleyball team from 1977-1983 with a record of 89-57, never finishing below 3rd place in the conference. She became the Golden West College athletic director in 1983. In 1985-86 Lou Ann served as president of the California Community College Athletic Directors Association.

Lou Ann was inducted into the California Community College Womenns Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1999, the same class as Heck. 

Lou Ann was the head coach and owner of the Manhattan Hot Shots Volleyball Club for ten years, and she led them to a bronze medal at the Junior Olympics. She is currently a coach and administrator at the LA Sunshine Volleyball Club, which now includes 22 girls teams. She is also the athletic director at the American Martyrs Grammar School/Church in Manhattan Beach, where she currently resides with her husband, Steve, and their four children. All of her children are accomplished individuals; three of them had athletic scholarships. This August, Lou Ann and Steve will celebrate their 32nd wedding anniversary.
