Jennum Named 2024 NACDA Athletic Director of the Year
Cleveland, Ohio - Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) Dean of Kinesiology, Athletics, and Dance, and Director of Athletics Joe Jennum has been named a 2024 National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Athletic Director of the Year (ADOY), announced Wednesday.
"I am incredibly honored to be recognized as NACDA Athletic Director of the Year," Jennum said. "I appreciate all of the support from Mt. SAC and my athletic director friends and colleagues. This is a great honor for our program, coaches, staff, student-athletes, and administration, and I am incredibly fortunate to work with some amazing people each and every day."
Since he took over the helm in 2010, Mt. SAC captured the prestigious Learfield Sports Directors Cup Championship in 2014-15 (nation's premier two-year college athletics program), multiple NATYCAA Cup Championships (2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023), and one second-place finish (2012) in the state association division - making Mt. SAC the premier athletics program among California’s 115 community colleges.
During his tenure, in the NATYCAA Cup State Association record books, Mt. SAC set the record for the highest score (187.50 adjusted/222 non-adjusted) and has also produced the four highest scores in the award's history.
Additionally, over 44 percent (40-of-90) of the college's 3C2A State Championships and 12 South Coast Conference (SCC) Athletic Supremacy Awards have been captured under his watch.
Jennum served as the NATYCAA president during the 2020-21 academic year, and he still is active within the NATYCAA on the Learfield/Daktronics Cup and Nominations and Elections Committees.
He joins 27 other athletic directors from across the country to win this prestigious award, highlighting the efforts of athletic directors at all levels for their commitment and positive contributions to student-athletes, campuses, and their surrounding communities.
The award spans seven divisions (NCAA FBS, FCS, Division I-AAA, II, III, NAIA/Other Four-Year Institutions and Junior College/Community Colleges). The winners will be recognized in conjunction with the 59th Annual NACDA & Affiliates Convention at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, Nev., at the beginning of the Association-Wide Featured Session on Tuesday, June 11 at 4 p.m.
This is Jennum's second recognition as Athletic Director of the Year, previously being recognized in 2020. He joins fellow 3C2A athletic directors Kanoe Bandy (Taft), Dan Clauss (Saddleback), and Collin Pregliasco (Cosumnes River) as well as Will Cowan (Ventura), Dave Evans (San Diego Mesa), Jim Forkum (Santa Rosa), Albert Gasparian (Golden West), Warren Hansen (Cuesta), Bob Myers (Solano), Kulwant Singh (De Anza), and John Volek (Sierra) who are previous recipents of the ADOY award.
