CSM VB RECORDS THREE OPENING WEEK SWEEPS
SAN MATEO – Fallon Evans, Hannah Gamez, and Lille Tuivailala led the young College of San Mateo women's volleyball team to a solid 3-1 record the first week of the 2018 season.
The Lady Bulldogs swept De Anza, Taft, and Alameda in straight sets, but lost to Big 8 Conference power/unbeaten Santa Rosa JC, 3-1.
THREE FROSH RANK HIGH: Evans ranks No. 3 in the state with 117 assists and No. 5 with 12 service aces through matches of August 31. Gamez was No. 2 in kills with 42 and also had 18 digs. Tuivailala was in the top ten in kills with 36.
Aguilar, a sophomore, ranks in the top 20 in digs with 40. Freshman Grace Willming had 33 kills and 25 digs.
UP NEXT: To start the first week of September, San Mateo hosts a triple header with Cosumnes River (3-1) and Los Medanos (1-5) on Wednesday, starting a 2 p.m. CSM then plays in the elite San Joaquin Delta Classic on Friday, opening with Feather River (0-1) at 2 p.m., with play continuing on Saturday.
