CCCMVCA Top 9 Remains Same in Second Coaches Poll
There are a number of teams with similar records battling for position as the playoff race begins to take shape. Several key match-ups this week could have a major impact on conference standings and postseason seeding.
Wednesday's Notable Match-Ups
No. 8 Moorpark travels to No. 4 Santa Monica. The last time these teams met, the match went four sets, with Santa Monica coming away with the win in a tightly contested battle.
No. 1 Orange Coast heads to San Diego to face No. 7 Miramar. Both teams sit at the top of their respective sub-regions, with Orange Coast leading the Southern Coastal Region and Miramar leading the Southern Pacific Region. Orange Coast enters the match looking to extend its winning streak to 19.
No. 9 San Diego Mesa will be at Irvine Valley. Although Irvine Valley is not ranked in the top 10, the Lasers trail Mesa by just one win overall, and both teams are currently 3-5 in conference play.
No. 10 Santiago Canyon travels to Grossmont in another closely matched contest. Grossmont holds one more non-conference win, while both teams are tied in conference standings. The last time the two met, Grossmont edged SCC in a 17-15 fifth-set thriller.
Friday's Notable Match-Ups
No. 2 Golden West faces No. 9 San Diego Mesa, with Golden West looking to keep its near-perfect record intact.
No. 3 Santa Barbara City College travels to No. 6 Fullerton. In their previous meeting, SBCC swept Fullerton in three sets.
