Madoski, Modesto Run Away with NorCal Multis Title
Men's NorCal Decathlon Results
Salinas, Calif. - Freshman Marcus Madoski cruised to the NorCal Decathlon title, scoring a personal best 6586, on Wednesday afternoon to help give Modesto an early lead in men's track and field competition.
Madoski won half of the events, starting the competition by posting the best 100 meters time before scoring the best shot put, high jump, and discus marks, while also finishing with the fastest 400 meters time. He now ranks in the NorCal decathlon record books in the 100 meters (No. 9 - 11.03), high jump (T-No. 5 - 2.03), 400 meters (No. 10 - 49.67), and discus (No. 8 - 41.23).
Hartnell's Nathaniel Aceves-Aguilar came in second with a score of 5855, while Yuba's Matthew Ritenhouse finished third with a 5843 mark. All top three finishers are freshmen this season.
After multis competition, Modesto is atop the leaderboard with 13 points. Hartnell is second with eight, and Yuba is in third with six.
Modesto leads the way heading into the rest of regional action with 11 team points. Monterey Peninsula is close behind with 10, while American River has nine.
Full regional championship action picks back up with the NorCal Championship Trials on May 1 at Santa Rosa Junior College and SoCal Championship Trials on May 2 at Bakersfield College.
