Santa Monica’s White, Glendale’s Smith Named 3CFCA State Players of the Week
The California Community College Football Coaches Association (3CFCA) has named Santa Monica College wide receiver Lamont White the State Offensive Player of the Week and Glendale College defensive back/return specialist Alijah Smith its State Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 6.
White had a game-high 9 receptions for 119 yards with 2 TDs in Santa Monica's win over Grossmont on Saturday. It was his fourth straight game with at least one receiving TD as well as his third game this season with multiple receiving touchdowns. He currently leads state in receiving TDs with 9.
White is a sophomore originally out of Los Angeles and Marquez High School.
Smith had an amazing game on special teams, returning two kicks for touchdowns in Glendale's win over LA Southwest. He returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown and later added a 49-yard punt return for a TD. On defense, Smith came away with an interception and had 4 tackles.
