San Mateo Unanimous No. 1; Top Five Hold Steady in First 3C2A Football Poll
San Mateo, Calif. - Two-time defending 3C2A Champion College of San Mateo won its 2026 football opener, 49-7, at College the Sequoias and is the unanimous choice as the No. 1 team in this week's JC Athletic Bureau poll of California Community Football Coaches Association (CCCFCA) representatives.
CSM took all 14 first place votes and totaled 350 points. Golden West, the 2025 3C2A runner-up, holds the No. 2 spot with 324 points ahead of 2025 NorCal runner-up Modesto.
Golden West, after a perfect 10-0 regular season in 2025, opened postseason with a 31-0 win over Mt. San Jacinto. Modesto defeated American River, 21-7.
Non-league play continues this Saturday with Sierra (0-1) visiting San Mateo and Golden West featured in an early top 10 matchup at No. 9 Riverside. No. 3 Modesto entertains Santa Rosa.
