#6 Skyline, #10 Ohlone among Coast teams highlighting CCCSIA State Baseball Top 25
(LOS ANGELES) -- Unranked San Joaquin Delta put an end to #1 Santa Rosa Junior College's 20-game win streak to open the season, but the Bear Cubs simply started another string now at five straight as they continue to occupy the top spot in the third 2025 California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) State Baseball Top 25 poll.
While SRJC (25-1) grabbed 17 first-place votes, Mt. San Antonio (23-3) snatched the other first-place ballot and moves up two positions to #2 and current SoCal bragging rights.
Santa Rosa is 12-1 to lead the Big 8 Conference standings while Mt. SAC is 10-0 for first in the South Coast. SRJC is 8-0 v. ranked teams, including a recent 3-game sweep over #21 Sierra March 18-22.
The Mounties have the current state longest win streak, now at 19. Mt. SAC is 4-2 v. current Top 25 teams, but hasn't played one since defeating #9 Santa Ana and #24 Santa Barbara CC on back-to-back days in mid-February.
At #3, Cerritos was taken down a peg after losing 2-of-3 v. unranked SCC rival Long Beach CC Mar. 12-15 while #4 Fresno CC got bruised up in losses to unranked El Camino and #5 Cypress at the Cuesta/Hancock Spring Break Tourney Mar. 19-21.
After Santa Rosa, all 24 of the ranked teams are in different slots with four new squads joining the poll in #14 Chabot, #23 San Mateo, SBCC, and #25 Glendale.
Besides newcomer Chabot (on a 13-game win streak), the biggest moves upward were #9 Santa Ana, winners of 12 in a row, bolting up 10 ranks, #13 Sacramento CC climbing eight positions, Palomar (10-game victory string) soaring ahead seven spots to #8, and Skyline skying to #6 on a six-spot leap. The Trojans have won 10 straight.
The Coast Conference is well represented with current Co-South Division leader Skyline, North leader #7 West Valley (11 wins a row), #10 Ohlone, Co-South leader Chabot, and #23 San Mateo.
The Orange Empire also features five teams on the poll in Cypress, conference leader Santa Ana, #11 Riverside CC, #15 Golden West, and and #19 Saddleback.
The poll is pretty well even between the two regions with the South taking 13 of the 25 ranks.
