Amazing Graces, SMC dig leader named CCCWVCA State Players of the Week #11

Moorpark College outside hitter Grace Hazelton, Taft OH Grace Witcher and Santa Monica libero Annah Legaspi are this week's CCCWVCA State Players of the Week #11.

Hazelton, a 5-foot-9 sophomore from West Hills and El Camino Real Charter High, totaled 31 kills, 21 digs and passed at 2.0 rating in helping Moorpark to two important, Western State Conference North Division victories over Ventura and Santa Barbara City. She posted 19 kills with 12 digs in the 4-set win over SBCC. 

Witcher, a 6-foot sophomore from Liberty High in Bakersfield, ripped 16 kills, hit .480, made nine digs while serving seven aces in a sweep over Columbia. She is third in the state in kills per set at a 4.67 average and third in total points scoring with 459. 

Legaspi, a 5-6 freshman from West High in Torrance, is the state leader in digs this season with a 5.47 per set average. In three victories last week by SMC, she totaled 52 digs, 13 aces and set 15 assists in 10 sets.

Legaspi has reached the 30-dig mark in three matches this year including a high of 36 in a 5-set win over Ventura.
