Setters Showcased In CCCWVCA State Players of Week #5
Three sophomore setters were selected as the CCCWVCA State Players of the Week #5 in Long Beach City College's Enaya Vaielua, Hartnell's Theresa Habrik, and San Diego Mesa's Jaiden Mojica.
Vaielua, from Cypress High who also plays at opposite, scored a triple-double in the Vikings' exciting 5-set victory over previously undefeated and then state #1 Mesa last week. Vaielua impressed with 14 kills (hit .355), 24 set assists, 12 digs and four blocks in that victory. It was the all-around talent's eighth triple-double of her collegiate career.
She added six kills, 16 assists, 12 digs and three blocks in a sweep over Mt. San Jacinto.
Habrik, a 5-foot-11, international student-athlete from Erlenmoos, Germany, delivered 36 assists, six kills and 17 digs in the Panthers' 5-set victory over Sequoias and she contributed 32 assists, five kills, 13 digs and three aces in a 4-set defeat v. Feather River.
Mojica, named Setter of the 2023 State Tournament who helped Mesa to the 3C2A state crown as a freshman, is from Bonita Vista High in Chula Vista. She dished out 35 assists with nine digs in a huge PCAC sweep over Grossmont, then totaled 31 assists, 17 digs, six kills, and two blocks in the Olympians' loss to Long Beach.
