PCC's Roper, Sierra's Deter take CCCWVCA State Players of Week honors for Week #2
Pasadena City College sophomore outside hitter Reese Roper and Sierra freshman setter/right side Jordyn Deter are Week #2 selections for CCCWVCA State Players of the Week.
Roper, a 5-foot-7 performer from Colusa High, earned the South Region choice after her strong play in four matches for the Lancers last week. Roper, who changed positions from middle blocker to be an OH this season, is relishing the switch as she totaled 39 kills (3.54 per set), hit .277, totaled 27 digs and five aces for the week. She landed 10 kills (.474) and no errors v. Ventura, then tallied 11 kills in a win over Saddleback.
Roper closed the week with 15 kills in a win over Santa Barbara CC. She helped PCC go 3-1 v. four strong SoCal teams.
Deter, a 5-9 Wolverine out of Lincoln High, was the NorCal POTW as she totaled 27 kills, set 93 assists, served nine aces, and had 40 digs. She had a double-double v. Cabrillo with 26 assists and 20 digs and was solid v. Fresno City when she had seven kills, 31 set assists, and two aces.
Deter's play was instrumental in a 3-1 week for Sierra.
