The College of San Mateo women's basketball team took care of two visiting Coast Conference crossover foes to open the season 2-0.

Tiare Novero-Paaga had 12 points, including two 3-pointers – plus six rebounds -- to lead the opening 54-40 win over Monterey Peninsula. Jillian David added ten points, as the Lady Bulldogs outscored MPC, 33-17 in the second half in the Nov. 1 opener.

Jayonnah Carter had 13 points, six rebounds, four steals, and three assists to lead CSM past Gavilan, 77-27, on Sunday afternoon. Five San Mateo players scored in double figures. Mikaela Nava had 12 points, Novero-Paaga and Deanna Ayao each had 11 points, and Ariel Petalver scored 10 points.  Novero-Paaga led all rebounders with ten.

--CSM next plays at the Monterey Peninsula Crossover on Friday (Nov. 11), against Folsom Lake at 4 p.m., and on Saturday, against Allan Hancock, at 1 p.m.
