After #1 San Joaquin Delta, the next seven teams all changed positions in frenetic movement in this week's CCCWVCA State Top 25 Rankings. 

New #3 Fresno City raised its game with victories over #4 American River and #8 Feather River last week.

The wins allowed SoCal leader Long Beach City to grab the #2 spot with #5 San Diego Mesa, #6 Sierra, and #7 Grossmont all switching up their rank positions.

It's assists leader week in this week's rankings, so here's a salute to the top 25's key setters.

  1. SAN JOAQUIN DELTA, Big 8, 17-1: Sweeps over Modesto and Sacramento City upped the Mustangs' win streak to eight matches while they lead the Big 8 at 5-0. Caprisa Brock is fourth in the state, averaging 9.9 assists per set. NorCal #1; Last Week's State Rank: #1
  2. LONG BEACH CITY, South Coast South, 13-0: The still undefeated Vikings outlasted Mt. San Antonio in five sets, winning the fifth 15-12, then swept LA Harbor to open SCC South play. Four of Long Beach's wins this season have gone the 5-set route. Enaya Vaielua averages 5.15 assists. LBCC rises a slot. SoCal #1; Last Week's State Rank: #3
  3. FRESNO CITY, Central Valley, 15-4: The Rams swept Taft to up its legendary conference win streak to 181, then made a statement by ralliying a set down to beat American River in four, then giving up the first set before defeating Feather River in five (15-6). Fresno has won eight in a row and are 1-1 this year v. ARC, Sierra and FRC. Ashlan VanGronigen was a State Player of the Week. Savanna FauntLeroy is ninth in assists at 9.19.   4. AMERICAN RIVER, Big 8, 15-3: The Beavers beat Santa Rosa in four, lost a rematch v. Fresno in four (won the first time in five), then swept Feather River for the second time this season. Sophia MacPherson averages 5.9 assists. ARC slips two pegs. NorCal #3; Last Week's State Rank: #2
  5. SAN DIEGO MESA, Pacific Coast Athletic, 13-1: The Olympians lead the PCAC at 6-0 after sweeping MiraCosta, then surviving a 5-set affair with Palomar (15-9). Jaiden Mojica is eighth in the state at a 9.21 assists. Mesa falls one rank. SoCal: #2; Last Week's State Rank: #4
  6. SIERRA, Big 8, Big 8, 15-4: The Wolverines swept Folsom Lake. Jordyn Deter leads the state in assists with a 10.93 average. Sierra takes a step back. NorCal: #4; Last Week's State Rank: #5
  7. GROSSMONT, Pacific Coast Athletic, 11-6: The Griffins swept Palomar and Imperial Valley. Norma Ramirez averages 6.78 assists. Grossmont earlier this year had a sweep over Feather River. Grossmont ascends one spot. SoCal #3; Last Week's State Rank: #8
  8. FEATHER RIVER, Golden Valley, 15-6: The Golden Eagles saw their 11-match win streak stopped by Fresno in five, then were swept by American River. Maya Cann is 10th in the state at 8.8 assists. FRC tumbles two spaces. NorCal #5; Last Week's State Rank: #6
  9. MOORPARK, Western State North, 12-3: The Raiders swept LA Pierce and Ventura to begin WSC North play. Gaby Schirado is seventh in the state in assists at 9.42. SoCal #4; Last Week's State Rank: #9
  10. LA MISSION, Western State North, 16-0: The undefeated Eagles had a 25-set win streak snapped in losing the third game on its way to a 4-set win over Santa Barbara, then won in four v. Allan Hancock to begin WSC North action. Tawnie Ohrt was a State Player of the Week. Taylor Boone is second in the state in assists at 10 per set. SoCal #5; Last Week's State Rank: #10
  11. MT. SAN ANTONIO, South Coast North, 11-6: The Mounties went the distance in its loss to Long Beach (only outscored 104-97), then began SCC North play by sweeping Rio Hondo. Jordyn Romano was a State Player of the Week. Eva Becerra averages 5.18 assists. SoCal: #6; Last Week's State Rank:#11
  12. SAN MATEO, Coast South, 10-5: The Bulldogs swept Monterey Peninsula for their fifth win in a row. Abbi Sanchez is fifth in the state at 9.71. NorCal #6; Last Week's State Rank: #12
  13. CERRITOS, South Coast South, 9-2: The Falcons sweep-a-thon continues at five straight matches with a 3-set win over El Camino to open SCC South play. Leeya Rubio averages 5.95 assists. SoCal #7; Last Week's State Rank: #13
  14. ORANGE COAST, Orange Empire, 11-2: The Pirates swept Golden West. Jordan Packer averages 8.33 assists. OCC moves back up two spaces. SoCal #8; Last Week's State Rank: #16
  15. SOLANO, Bay Valley, 15-4: The Falcons pick up their 60th straight win in BVC play by sweeping Mendocino in the '24 Bay Valley opener. Vanya Paopao averages 5.81 assists. Solano drops a rank. NorCal #7; Last Week's State Rank: #14
  16. SANTA BARBARA CITY, Western State North, 11-3: The Vaqueros started conference play with a 4-set defeat v. LA Mission and a 4-set triumph over Cuesta. Natalie Lecari-Sullivan averages 7.66 assists. SBCC falls one position. SoCal #9; Last Week's State Rank: #15
  17. TAFT, Central Valley, 17-3: The Cougars swept Columbia then had their 5-match win streak stopped in being swept by Fresno. Ariana Helbling averages 5.81 assists. NorCal #8; Last Week's State Rank: #17
  18. SANTA MONICA, Western State South, 9-6: The Corsairs swept Glendale and outlasted Bakersfield in five (15-13) to begin division play. Makena Gamby averages 5.69 assists. SoCal #10; Last Week's State Rank: #18
  19. PASADENA CITY, South Coast North, 8-9: The Lancers swept Compton and East Los Angeles, the latter to start division play. Kamea Vongfak averages 5.6 assists. SoCal #11; Last Week's State Rank: #19
  20. VENTURA, Western State North, 7-6: The Pirates needed five sets to get by Cuesta (15-9), then was swept by Moorpark to open division matches. Skylar Rutherford averages 4.49 assists. SoCal #12; Last Week's State Rank: #20
  21. BAKERSFIELD, Western State South, 7-7: The Renegades swept West LA, then lost to Santa Monica in a tough five. Taylor Drake averages 7.53 assists. SoCal #13; Last Week's State Rank: #21
  22. SHASTA, Golden Valley, 17-5: The Knights swept De Anza and Sacramento and have won nine of their last 10. Shawnee Church is third in the state in assists average at 9.92. NorCal #9; Last Week's State Rank: #22
  23. RIVERSIDE CITY, Orange Empire, 11-4: The Tigers are sizzling with six straight wins, including a sweep over Santiago Canyon and a 4-set victory over Cypress. Alyssa Bishop averages 4.84 assists. SoCal #14; Last Week's State Rank: #23
  24. CANYONS, Western State South, 7-7: The Cougars defeated Citrus in four and swept Glendale to open division competition. Morgan Dumlao averages 5.68 assists. SoCal #15: Last Week's State Rank: #24
     T25. MT. SAN JACINTO, Inland Empire Athletic, 9-8: The Eagles downed San Bernardino Valley in four and swept Copper Mountain. Kalia Anady averages 4.02 assists. Last Week's State Rank: #T25
    T25. MIRACOSTA, Pacfic Coast Athletic, 7-6: The Spartans were swept by SD Mesa and swept Southwestern. Megan Jo Martin averages 8.2 assists. Last Week's State Rank: #T25
     T25. PALOMAR, Pacific Coast Athletic, 8-4: The Comets may have lost two matches, but showed they can be dangerous as they were only outscored 76-68 in their 3-set loss to Grossmont, then they took SD Mesa to the brink in a 5-set defeat. Kylana Madayag averages 6.86 assists. Last Week's State Rank: Unranked.

    BEST OF THE REST
    Merced, Central Valley, 12-3: The Blue Devils come up big with a 5-set win over Sequoias and a sweep over Coalinga. NorCal #10
    San Bernardino Valley, Inland Empire Athletic, 9-6: The Wolverines lost to Mt. San Jacinto in four and swept Cerro Coso.
    Saddleback, Orange Empire, 8-3: The Bobcats swept Santa Ana and Santiago Canyon and have won four in a row. 
     Cypress, Orange Empire, 7-8: The Chargers swept Irvine Valley, then had their 6-match win streak stopped by Riverside in four.
    Ohlone, Coast South, 13-2: The Renegades did not play last week. NorCal #11
    Coalinga, Central Valley, 13-4: The Falcons swept Reedley, then were swept by Merced. NorCal #12
    Sacramento City, Big 8, 11-10: The Panthers swept Santa Rosa and De Anza and were swept by Delta and Shasta. NorCal #13
    Santa Rosa, Big 8, 11-8: The Bear Cubs were swept by Sacramento, then lost to American River in four. NorCal #14; Last Week's State Rank: #T25 
     Sequoias, Central Valley, 11-8: The Giants lost two 5-set marathons, falling to Merced (15-10, fifth) and Lemoore (15-11, fifth). NorCal #T15
     Modesto, Big 8, 10-9: The Pirates were swept by Delta, then rallied from a 2-0 deficit to get past Diablo Valley in five (15-12). NorCal #T15
    Cosumnes River, Big 8, 10-7: The Hawks break a 4-match losing streak in beating Diablo Valley in four and sweeping Folsom Lake. NorCal #T15
     Hartnell, Coast North, 7-11: The Panthers broke a 4-match losing skein with a 5-set thriller over West Valley (17-15).
    Monterey Peninsula, Coast North, 7-3: The Lobos were swept by San Mateo.
    Cuesta, Western State North, 7-9: The Cougars had a 5-match win streak ended by Ventura in five, then took Santa Barbara to four in a defeat.
    Allan Hancock, Western State North, 9-2: The Bulldogs lost to LA Mission in four.
