Seismic shift up high in State Women's Volleyball Top 25
After #1 San Joaquin Delta, the next seven teams all changed positions in frenetic movement in this week's CCCWVCA State Top 25 Rankings.
New #3 Fresno City raised its game with victories over #4 American River and #8 Feather River last week.
The wins allowed SoCal leader Long Beach City to grab the #2 spot with #5 San Diego Mesa, #6 Sierra, and #7 Grossmont all switching up their rank positions.
It's assists leader week in this week's rankings, so here's a salute to the top 25's key setters.
- SAN JOAQUIN DELTA, Big 8, 17-1: Sweeps over Modesto and Sacramento City upped the Mustangs' win streak to eight matches while they lead the Big 8 at 5-0. Caprisa Brock is fourth in the state, averaging 9.9 assists per set. NorCal #1; Last Week's State Rank: #1
- LONG BEACH CITY, South Coast South, 13-0: The still undefeated Vikings outlasted Mt. San Antonio in five sets, winning the fifth 15-12, then swept LA Harbor to open SCC South play. Four of Long Beach's wins this season have gone the 5-set route. Enaya Vaielua averages 5.15 assists. LBCC rises a slot. SoCal #1; Last Week's State Rank: #3
- FRESNO CITY, Central Valley, 15-4: The Rams swept Taft to up its legendary conference win streak to 181, then made a statement by ralliying a set down to beat American River in four, then giving up the first set before defeating Feather River in five (15-6). Fresno has won eight in a row and are 1-1 this year v. ARC, Sierra and FRC. Ashlan VanGronigen was a State Player of the Week. Savanna FauntLeroy is ninth in assists at 9.19. - AMERICAN RIVER, Big 8, 15-3: The Beavers beat Santa Rosa in four, lost a rematch v. Fresno in four (won the first time in five), then swept Feather River for the second time this season. Sophia MacPherson averages 5.9 assists. ARC slips two pegs. NorCal #3; Last Week's State Rank: #2
- SAN DIEGO MESA, Pacific Coast Athletic, 13-1: The Olympians lead the PCAC at 6-0 after sweeping MiraCosta, then surviving a 5-set affair with Palomar (15-9). Jaiden Mojica is eighth in the state at a 9.21 assists. Mesa falls one rank. SoCal: #2; Last Week's State Rank: #4
- SIERRA, Big 8, Big 8, 15-4: The Wolverines swept Folsom Lake. Jordyn Deter leads the state in assists with a 10.93 average. Sierra takes a step back. NorCal: #4; Last Week's State Rank: #5
- GROSSMONT, Pacific Coast Athletic, 11-6: The Griffins swept Palomar and Imperial Valley. Norma Ramirez averages 6.78 assists. Grossmont earlier this year had a sweep over Feather River. Grossmont ascends one spot. SoCal #3; Last Week's State Rank: #8
- FEATHER RIVER, Golden Valley, 15-6: The Golden Eagles saw their 11-match win streak stopped by Fresno in five, then were swept by American River. Maya Cann is 10th in the state at 8.8 assists. FRC tumbles two spaces. NorCal #5; Last Week's State Rank: #6
- MOORPARK, Western State North, 12-3: The Raiders swept LA Pierce and Ventura to begin WSC North play. Gaby Schirado is seventh in the state in assists at 9.42. SoCal #4; Last Week's State Rank: #9
- LA MISSION, Western State North, 16-0: The undefeated Eagles had a 25-set win streak snapped in losing the third game on its way to a 4-set win over Santa Barbara, then won in four v. - SANTA BARBARA CITY, Western State North, 11-3: The Vaqueros started conference play with a 4-set defeat v. LA Mission and a 4-set triumph over Cuesta. Natalie Lecari-Sullivan averages 7.66 assists. SBCC falls one position. SoCal #9; Last Week's State Rank: #15

Merced, Central Valley, 12-3: The Blue Devils come up big with a 5-set win over Sequoias and a sweep over Coalinga. NorCal #10

Saddleback, Orange Empire, 8-3: The Bobcats swept Santa Ana and Santiago Canyon and have won four in a row.
